My name is Wesley I’m 36 and from North East London.
I have had Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy since birth. As a result of this, I am a full-time electric wheelchair user.
I would classify myself as a heavy user – I am always out and about in the community supporting lots of worthwhile causes that I volunteer for. Among other things, I volunteer for Carers of Barking & Dagenham, The NHS and Transport for London.
So that I can maintain my busy lifestyle and my mental health, I need a chair that is capable of long distances and is hard wearing.
Since June, I have been very lucky to have been using the Quickie Q400, which is a perfect chair for my lifestyle with its 80amp/hr batteries. These are plenty big enough for a heavy user. Since getting the Quickie Q400, my life has been that little bit less stressful as I haven’t had to worry about running out of battery power. Because of this, my mental health has improved.
My chair is more than a wheelchair for me; it is a companion and friend, which has got me into a few scrapes, but also out of a few tricky situations!
I would like to thank AJM Healthcare for understanding the importance of giving me a chair that is capable of supporting my lifestyle.
It is clear that AJM staff have an excellent understanding of my needs and wants as a wheelchair user. I am looking forward to many happy years in the chair or – as my nephews have christened her – Doris.
