Push for charity

We’re very proud of AJM’s wheelchair half-marathon team who supported Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Wheelchair Service user, Lee Taylor and his friends at the weekend.

Guy Eatherington, Customer Relations Director and David Wales-Durrans, Service Operations Manager, along with Lee and 13 of his friends pushed themselves around the track at Biggleswade Athletics Club.

Guy said, “I really enjoyed the whole event on Saturday.  Gavin (Hosking), Monica (Sampla) and Bruno (Almeida) gave up their Saturday morning to make sure all the powered products were fitted and ready to show off.  Lee showed great strength of character, pushing himself with the help of his friends and family around the track 26 times!  I am delighted that we have helped to raise over £2,700 so far and will be very happy to see this grow further.”

The event took just over two hours to complete, with everyone carrying out the last lap together.

David said, “After meeting Lee, he is definitely a character and a very positive person, along with all his family and friends supporting him. At the beginning I didn’t know what to expect or how long it would take, Guy and myself were just aiming to start off slow and see how it felt.  For the first 4-5 laps I could feel it in my shoulders but that soon dissipated as we both chatted to others for the first 15 laps before we took a quick 10-minute break.

“Once everyone reached the 25th lap, we stopped to carry out the last lap together, supporting Lee during his endeavour. The event went very well with plenty of support throughout.

“Lee loved the power pack his personal wheelchair budget provided.”

Money raised is being split 50/50 between the Cambridgeshire branch of MND Association and The Arthur Rank Hospice.
